Robotic Urology Forum is the brainchild dream of Dr. T. B. Yuvaraja. With the Rise of Robotic Urology Surgery, he foresaw the scope of this type of surgery a decade back and constituted the society in the Year-2015.The very first conference of Robotic Urologic Forum was held in kokilaben Hospital, Andheri, Mumbai. In order to promote and make progress in this field, it is necessary to carve out a separate dedicated body which aims solely for the development and advancement of knowledge and skills imparting to the fellow, colleagues and all youngsters. RUF is a recognised body and it's National meeting is held every year.

This provides a platform for Deliberation, Demonstration to showcase your achievement and skills. This society has sensitised and motivated Many Young Urologists to make the mark in the field of surgery and to take the various challenges to make their carrier best. This Forum has gained momentum and has grown exponentially in terms of numbers. The foresighted and hardwork of Dr. T. B. Yuvaraja need to be applauded for constantly and energetically raising the bar of scientific contents and workshops each year.

Robotic surgery is going to be the paradigm shift in healthcare! The difficult anatomy and precise technology in dissections have proved to be the game-changer. Presently urological surgery is the specialty where robotics has emerged the most and thus, we urologists have been the torch bearer of robotic surgery and its innovations. I strongly feel the need for integrity among us to create a network for sharing knowledge and helping develop ideas for the future of surgery. The idea of this forum is to open ourselves to teamwork that can help treat, innovate, teach, and strengthen our fraternity. Greetings from the council of robotic urology forum!!

Robotic surgery is being performed for almost all urologic procedures which include robotic prostatectomy, robotic nephron sparing surgery, robotic pyeloplasty. Robotic renal transplantation is the new kid on the block in the arena of robotic surgery in India and showing promising results

Robotic surgery is increasing by leaps and bounds in India with 70+ robotic installations presently. Needless to say, robotic surgery is a disruptive innovation and no speciality is immune to the impact of disruptive technology, some specialities are more than ready to accept the change. Urology is one such speciality which is always ready to accept change and adapt to it. Urology as a speciality was always ahead of the curve in this regard. In addition, urology as a speciality is uniquely positioned to adapt to the landscape of minimally invasive surgery, due to the conducive anatomy and trained professionals already trained in the art of laparoscopic urology. Robotic surgery is an extension of laparoscopic urology

The Robotic urologic surgery fraternity got together under the banner of Robotic Urology Forum (RUF), a national organization of surgeons practicing the art of Robotic urological surgeries. RUFCON (the national conference of RUF), has been held at Mumbai 2017, Chandigarh 2018 and Kochi 2019 in the past. I have been privileged and fortunate to be part of this closely knit group of urologists who came together in 2017 to establish the Robotic urology forum (RUF). The association is doing yeomen service in the field of robotic urology. The iconic RUFCON (National conference of RUF) has been an avenue for numerous urologists to present, share and learn the art of robotic urology. The old Halsteadian principle of “See one, do one and teach one” holds true even for robotic surgery. It is always taught to young aspiring surgeons that the best way of learning any surgery is to” teach one or see an expert performing a procedure”. This concept remains the soul of all RUFCONs and in principle of RUF as well. The next edition of RUFCON is scheduled in New Delhi later this year. The “USP” of RUF, is that it looks at the art of robotic surgery in a holistic and all-inclusive manner by dealing with various specialities such a paediatric robotic surgery, Urooncology, female urology etc together. As newer robotic platforms come into the market, the arena of robotic surgery in the next 5 years would indeed be interesting. RUF would have a major role to play in this changing and emerging landscape.

I would take this opportunity to urge all young and senior urologists alike to be members of RUF and give strength to the organisation.

I am sure this organisation would be the key driver for popularising and expanding the field of Robotic urology in India and beyond.
